The Roots journal evaluates all submitted manuscripts based on their academic merit, originality, clarity, relevance to the multidisciplinary scope, and contribution to existing knowledge. Preference is given to research that demonstrates innovation, critical inquiry, and significance across Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Science, Technology, and allied disciplines.

The editorial responsibility of the journal lies with the Editor-in-Chief, who ensures that all decisions are guided by scholarly value, relevance, and the overall academic objectives of the journal. The journal maintains complete neutrality and does not discriminate on the basis of institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, race, or personal background of authors.

RIJMR strictly upholds ethical publishing standards. Any manuscript found to involve plagiarism, duplicate submission, data manipulation, fabricated results, or other unethical research practices will be rejected or subjected to appropriate corrective action in accordance with journal policy.

Review and Evaluation Committee

The Roots Journal follows a structured review and evaluation system to ensure timely and high-quality publication of scholarly research. A Quarterly Review and Evaluation Committee meeting is convened under the supervision of the Managing Editor and the Editor-in-Chief. The committee oversees the manuscript evaluation and publication process, ensuring that all submissions are reviewed in accordance with the Journal’s peer-review and editorial standards.

The standard peer-review and evaluation process is typically completed within 20 working days from the date of manuscript submission, subject to the availability of reviewers and the complexity of the research.

Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts at least 20 working days prior to the scheduled publication cycle to ensure smooth processing and inclusion in the respective issue. The Journal is published regularly in accordance with its established publication policy.


Express Review and Processing Service

In special cases involving time-sensitive or high-impact research, the Journal may offer an Express Review and Processing Service. Under this service, selected manuscripts may undergo an accelerated review and editorial process to facilitate faster publication. Such processing is applied only when deemed appropriate by the Editorial Board based on the significance, urgency, or relevance of the research.

All manuscripts, whether processed under standard or express review, remain subject to the Journal’s double-blind peer-review policy and quality standards. The Editorial Board retains full authority over acceptance and publication decisions.

Publication Policy and Peer-Review Process


Introduction

The Roots Journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a fair, rigorous, and transparent peer-review process. Peer review plays a vital role in ensuring the quality, originality, accuracy, and academic integrity of published research. The comments and recommendations provided by reviewers assist editors in making informed publication decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.


Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo a preliminary assessment by the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor.

Manuscripts are evaluated for:

Originality and novelty;

Relevance to the Journal's aims and scope;

Scientific and academic merit;

Methodological rigor and ethical compliance;

Clarity of presentation and overall quality;

Contribution to existing knowledge and current scholarly discourse.

Manuscripts that do not meet the Journal's basic requirements may be rejected without external peer review.

Authors will be notified of the editorial decision via email.


Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening will be subjected to a double-blind peer-review process.

Under this system:

The identities of authors are concealed from reviewers.

The identities of reviewers are concealed from authors.

Each manuscript is normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area.

Authors are responsible for removing all identifying information from their manuscripts before submission to preserve the integrity of the review process.


Review Criteria

Reviewers are requested to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

Originality and significance of the research;

Relevance to the Journal's scope;

Soundness of methodology and analysis;

Accuracy and validity of results;

Quality of literature review and references;

Clarity, organization, and presentation;

Ethical compliance and research integrity;

Contribution to academic and professional knowledge.


Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers' recommendations and editorial evaluation, one of the following decisions may be made:

Accept without revisions;

Accept with minor revisions;

Request major revisions and resubmission;

Reject the manuscript.

The Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief reserves the final authority regarding all publication decisions.


Conflicts of Interest

Editors and reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence their assessment of a manuscript. Individuals with conflicts of interest shall not participate in the review or decision-making process for the concerned submission.


Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts may undergo copyediting, language editing, formatting, and proofreading to ensure consistency, clarity, and adherence to the Journal's publication standards. Authors may be consulted when substantial editorial changes are required.


Review Timeline

The Journal strives to complete the initial peer-review process within 20–30 working days from the date of submission. However, review timelines may vary depending on reviewer availability, manuscript complexity, and the extent of revisions required.


Appeals

Authors who believe that a decision has been made in error may submit a written appeal to the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief. Appeals will be reviewed objectively, and the final decision of the Editorial Board shall be binding.


Publication

Manuscripts accepted for publication will be published in the Journal's print/online issue according to the publication schedule.

Publication is subject to the successful completion of all editorial, peer-review, and production requirements.

The Journal reserves the right to decline publication at any stage if significant ethical, legal, or academic concerns are identified.

Rejected manuscripts will not be returned; however, editorial communications and reviewer comments, where applicable, may be shared with authors.

Authors must accurately present their research findings and provide sufficient detail to enable verification, replication, and further scholarly investigation.

Fabrication, falsification, manipulation, or misrepresentation of research data is strictly prohibited.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all information contained in the manuscript is accurate and supported by appropriate evidence.


Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit only original work.

Proper acknowledgment and citation of the work, ideas, data, and words of other researchers must be provided.

Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unauthorized use of copyrighted material, is considered unethical and unacceptable.

The Journal reserves the right to reject, retract, or remove any manuscript found to contain plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct.


Authorship

Acknowledgment of Sources

Authors must appropriately acknowledge all sources of information, data, funding, and intellectual contributions that have influenced the research. Proper citation and referencing practices must be followed at all times.


Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence or appear to influence the research findings or interpretation of results.


Ethical Compliance

Where applicable, authors must confirm that their research complies with relevant ethical standards, regulations, and institutional requirements. Studies involving human participants, personal data, or animals should have received appropriate ethical approval from the relevant authority.


Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers shall evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and confidentially.

Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and decline review assignments where impartiality may be compromised.

Information obtained through the peer-review process must not be used for personal advantage or disclosed to third parties.


Responsibilities of Editors

Editors shall make publication decisions based solely on the scholarly merit, originality, relevance, and quality of submitted manuscripts.

Editors shall maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and the peer-review process.

Editors shall not discriminate against authors on the basis of nationality, gender, ethnicity, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.

Editors shall take appropriate action when ethical concerns, complaints, or allegations of misconduct are identified.


Misconduct and Corrective Actions

If evidence of plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, falsification, unethical research practices, or other forms of misconduct is discovered before or after publication, the Journal reserves the right to:

Reject the manuscript;

Request corrections or clarifications;

Issue corrections or retractions;

Remove published content where legally required;

Notify the relevant institutions, organizations, or funding agencies when appropriate.


Author Responsibility

Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their submitted and published work. Plagiarism and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Detection Policy

Authors must take full responsibility for all content submitted, including any portions assisted or generated using AI-based tools.

If AI tools have been used in the preparation of the manuscript, authors are encouraged to declare this in a dedicated statement within the manuscript.


AI Detection and Screening

The Journal reserves the right to screen submitted manuscripts using AI-detection and similarity-checking tools to identify potential issues such as plagiarism, automated content generation, or fabricated text.

If a manuscript is found to contain a significant proportion of AI-generated or non-original content without proper disclosure, it may be rejected or returned for revision.

Editorial decisions will be based on academic integrity, originality, and scientific validity rather than automated tool outputs alone.


Authorship

Authorship is limited to individuals who have made a significant intellectual contribution to the research.

Submission of a manuscript implies that:

The work is original and has not been previously published in any form, except as an abstract, part of a published lecture, academic thesis, or preprint (if applicable and disclosed).

Where applicable, the responsible institutional authorities have approved the research.

The Roots Journal is a multidisciplinary and multilingual academic journal that accepts manuscripts in all languages.

Authors may submit their research articles in any language relevant to their discipline and research community. The Roots Journal values linguistic diversity and aims to promote inclusive scholarly communication across different regions and academic traditions.


Abstract and Metadata Requirements

All manuscripts must include an abstract and keywords in English to ensure global discoverability and indexing compatibility.

Authors may optionally provide abstracts and keywords in both English and the language of the manuscript.

English abstracts help improve visibility in international indexing databases and facilitate broader academic reach.


Review Process

Manuscripts submitted in any language will undergo peer review by qualified reviewers competent in the respective language or subject area.

If required, the Editorial Board may seek translation assistance to support the review process while maintaining confidentiality and integrity.


Translation Responsibility

Authors are responsible for the accuracy and clarity of the language used in their manuscript.

If translations are provided, authors must ensure that the translated version accurately reflects the original content.

In case of any discrepancy between versions, the submitted manuscript version will be considered the official record.

The Roots Journal ensures that all personal data provided is used exclusively for official journal-related purposes and is not shared, sold, or disclosed to any third party without consent, except where required for editorial, publishing, indexing, or legal obligations.

Appropriate measures are taken to safeguard the confidentiality and security of personal information stored in the Journal system. By submitting a manuscript or using the Journal’s services, users consent to the collection and use of their information in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

Article Processing Charge (Effective from 01.10.2025)

The ROOTS International Journal of Multidisciplinary Researches (RIJMR) (ISSN: 2349-8684 (Print)) operates on a nominal Article Processing Charge (APC) model to support the cost of manuscript processing and publication services.

The APC covers essential services including plagiarism checking, typesetting (DTP), online manuscript processing, production costs, website maintenance, long-term digital archiving, administrative expenses, and general operational overheads. It is important to note that the APC is charged only for processing services and does not influence the editorial decision or acceptance of manuscripts. All submissions undergo a strict double-blind peer-review process, and only manuscripts that meet the required academic standards are accepted for publication.

As an Open Access Journal, all published articles are freely available online, allowing users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, and share content without restrictions. This open-access model enhances the visibility, accessibility, and academic impact of authors’ research work.

From 1st October 2025, the Article Processing Charge is as follows:

Indian Authors: INR 1500/- (Includes printed hard copy of the journal, if applicable)

International Authors: USD 50 (Online publication only)

The Roots Journal emphasizes that APCs are strictly for manuscript processing and publication support services and are not related to the acceptance or rejection of any submitted article.

Refund Policy

The Article Processing Charge (APC) is collected to support the editorial, peer-review, processing of the Journal. It is important to note that the APC is charged for manuscript processing services and not for the guarantee of acceptance or publication.

If a manuscript is not accepted for publication after completing the peer-review process, 60% of the Article Processing Charge (APC) will be refunded to the author. The remaining amount covers administrative, editorial, and review-related processing costs incurred during the evaluation of the manuscript.

In the case where an author voluntarily withdraws a manuscript after the review or publication process has commenced, no refund will be provided, as resources and services would have already been utilized.

All refund requests, where applicable, will be processed in accordance with the Journal’s financial procedures. The Journal reserves the right to make the final decision regarding any refund matters.
